As we approach the holidays and the year starts to wind down, we reflect, and we look ahead to 2018.
But first, please register today for the upcoming Quarterly Education Meeting on November 15th. Our Program Committee has put together another outstanding meeting agenda.
Rather than rattle off a list of accomplishments (there have been many – please read about recent successes later in this newsletter), I want to remind us of why our organization exists.
FPA of Orange County started in 2001 as a merger of the Orange County chapters of the former International Association for Financial Planning and the former Institute of Certified Financial Planners. Chapter leaders such as our first Chapter President Glenn Woody set out to bring together the best of each group to create a better, stronger organization.
From the start, our chapter has prioritized quarterly meetings with high-quality continuing education (CEs) and blocks of time allotted for networking and socializing. I’m pleased you, our members, have recognized the value of our quarterly meetings as we’ve averaged record attendance of 270 this year. I believe this will continue.
Our chapter’s Why Statement is: “We’re passionate about the idea of financial planning as a profession and the positive impact it has on the lives of others. We’re leading in its creation, adoption, and recognition, RIGHT NOW.”
I trust the future leaders of our chapter will carry our Why Statement forward and explore new innovative ways of embodying this. I’m very pleased Janet Larsen, CFP®, will serve as our Chapter President in 2018. Janet has been a very engaged president-elect and I’m excited to pass the baton to her.
