Out of abundance of caution…

Dear FPA Orange County members,

I felt now was a good opportunity to speak to you about how COVID-19 has impacted the chapter and the actions the Board is taking to address potential concerns.

We received word late last week that UC Irvine has suspended all non-essential gatherings on campus until further notice. The May QEM (Quarterly Education Meeting) has been cancelled due to this policy. Those of you that had already registered should have received a notice of this cancellation.

Like many other organizations, we are concerned for the well-being of our members and would ask that you follow the guidelines of the CDC and other health officials in taking all precautionary steps to ensure the safety of you and those around you. For those events on our chapter’s calendar, such as the Study Group and committee meetings, a call-in number will be provided for those that wish to stay physically away from any large gatherings, but still want to interact with others…albeit from a safe distance.

The board and their associated committees are working on the development of several new events that will focus on maintaining the membership’s interactions from a virtual standpoint. We recognize that we can’t merely just shut down the chapter, so we seek to embrace the environment we are in and develop innovative solutions to the challenges we face, just like you must do in your own businesses. I invite you to give these new ideas a chance and to support them with the same enthusiasm you have given to the chapter’s “normal” events. We may look back at this as a time of some really amazing new ideas. Certainly, if you see or hear of any new and engaging events, please share them with us.

As this situation continues to unfold, the Board will keep you apprised of changes in the operations of your chapter and the reasoning behind it. Your support of the chapter is greatly appreciated, and we know that we will all get through this period with your patience and understanding.

Be safe and be well.
