The NexGen Community

Our “NexGen” group is a sub-community of FPA, geared toward younger planners and those who are new to the profession. We envision our group to be a place where those who are still learning and growing as professionals can come to network and learn from those who have gone before us.

FPA NexGen Vision Statement

“To ensure the transference of wisdom, tradition, and integrity, from the pioneers of financial planning to the next generation of our profession.”

FPA NexGen Mission Statement

“NexGen is intended to be a community of the next generation of financial planner.”

NexGen strives to provide members with a network that serves to:

  • Support, advise and encourage one another in our professional advancement
  • Promote, foster, and direct programs that aid in passing the baton
  • Explore issues common to younger planners and seek means of accentuating the positives and finding resolutions for negatives

Join us for the 4th annual SoCal Summit! The NexGen Chapters of San Diego, Orance County, Los Angeles, and Ventura County will come together for a day of shared learning. Come meet someone new, acquire a new skill, or share your story. Or all the above!

This year’s theme will focus on the Soft Skills of Financial Planning. In other words, things you didn’t learn in school. Learn about the following topics:

  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Empathy
  • How to Relate to a Client
  • Discover a Client’s Values
  • How to Build Trust

Clients aren’t numbers on a spreadsheet. They are complex, emotional beings, especially when it comes to money. How do you help people reach their financial goals by thoughtfully addressing their challenges, while at the same time, attending to the emotional, psychological, behavioral, and relational hurdles that are intertwined? How do you build trust? How do you find out what a client truly wants? I guess you’ll have to come and find out.

The day will consist of:

  • Two Presenters
  • Breakout Session
  • Lunch
  • Advisor Panel
  • Happy Hour

All for $20! We hope to see you there!
